Three years removed from the release of their full-length debut, XO, Vancouver dance party-starters Bear Mountain are gearing up to unveil a new album this week. Having built up a repertoire of infectious electro-pop tracks (such as the one performed on their last Exclaim! TV episode), the Canuck quartet have made a name for themselves in the indie music realm, keeping current with a series of singles over the past couple of years. With their sophomore LP BADU set to drop this Friday, September 9, we're spotlighting the band's performance of album cut "On My Own" for this week's episode of Exclaim! TV.
The acoustic rendition of the yet-to-be released track begins with a catchy keyboard melody that slowly builds up into a pleasant concoction of acoustic and electric guitars and rich harmonies. Lyrics such as "I never thought that you would ever come running back / I miss the way you move, but I got more pride than that" are simultaneously heart-wrenching and vulnerable, giving listeners a truly melancholic pop experience.
