Barrie, ON-based musician B.Knox — a.k.a. Barry Hunnakko — has revealed plans for his sophomore album Far from Folk, arriving April 8, 2022. To celebrate the upcoming record, the alt-country/Americana artist has shared a new single titled "Seasons."

In contrast to his 2020 debut, Heartbreak & Landscape, Far from Folk finds Hunnakko ushering listeners towards the light at the end of the tunnel. "If you made it through the first album alive," he said in the album's liner notes, "my wish is that this one finds you less bitter and leaves you with a little hope."

Far from Folk sees the singer-songwriter taking his folk foundation and reaching outwards, incorporating organ, swooning strings and electric guitar. Aaron Goldstein — B.Knox's collaborator — multitasks, operating as the album's producer and the pedal steel player. Yet, despite its experimentation and genre-bending, the forthcoming record remains grounded in Hunnakko's expert songcraft.

Hunnakko wrote the album alone from a cottage on Georgian Bay, Lake Huron, with Goldstein later imbuing the album with its hopeful tone through careful production. The artist's isolation is mirrored in the record's title, which holds double meaning, considering its genre-crossing sound and the social distance of the COVID-19 era.

As we await further information about Far from Folk, we can content ourselves with streaming its first single on repeat. Listen to "Seasons" below.
