Last week, Avril Lavigne announced that she'd signed to Travis Barker's label DTA Records and teased a new single, and now we get to hear the result of this inevitable mash-up of pop-punk royalty.
Lavigne shared her new single "Bite Me" today, and it finds her plugging into the zeitgeist and returning to the now-everywhere mall-punk sound that she helped popularize.
In a press release, Lavigne described "Bite Me" as "an anthem about knowing your worth, what you deserve, and not giving someone a second chance who doesn't deserve you."
The tight, punchy song is under three minutes and sounds more like "classic Avril" than anything on 2019's Head Above Water. She'll be performing it live tonight on the Late Late Show with James Corden.
A Hannah Lux David-directed video is coming sometime soon. For now, you can listen to the song below.
