If you've ever had a burning question for Robert Fripp — the mind behind King Crimson who has worked with David Bowie, Brian Eno, Peter Gabriel, Blondie, Talking Heads and more — you will have a chance to ask it on the artist's upcoming North American speaking tour.
This fall, Fripp and longtime production and business partner David Singleton — or as the tour billing dubs them, "That Awful Man and His Manager" — will embark on a 16-date trek around North America this September and October.
Fripp's team has shared the following batch of "likely topics" the two may cover during their time onstage: "Where does music come from? What does it take to survive the music business? When does the impossible become possible? Can music change the world? Why did Fripp put on a tutu and dance to Swan Lake at the end of his garden? Who is The Vicar?"
The speaking tour's first three dates come in Canada. As you'll find with the itinerary below, the run begins in Toronto at the Royal Theatre on September 16, ahead of dates at Montreal's Club Soda (September 17) and Quebec City's Imperial Bell (September 18).
Here are some questions we would pose to Fripp (which you can totally steal if you want): What is your favourite time signature? When were you last in the court of the Crimson King? How many drummers is too many? Have you called Kanye about the "Power" sample? What is Toyah Willcox's favourite King Crimson song? When did you last see Tony Levin with a regular bass guitar? What's your favourite pescetarian recipe? Can you teach me the crosspicking part of "Frame by Frame"?
You can find Fripp and Singleton's speaking tour schedule below. The artist's former King Crimson bandmate Adrian Belew will also visit Canada this fall on a David Bowie tribute tour.
