Robert Fripp and Toyah's Livestream Series Features Covers, Costumes and Lots of Dancing

The King Crimson guitarist and his wife reinterpret Nirvana, Guns N' Roses, Sex Pistols and more

We here at Exclaim! recently listed our Best Livestream Concerts of 2020, but we shouldn't bring the year to a close without a look at the lockdown video series from Robert Fripp and actress, artist and wife Toyah Willcox — which includes covers of rock icons including Nirvana, Guns N' Roses and more.

Lately, the duo's weekend "Sunday Lunch" series has found the King Crimson guitarist picking up his six-string to accompany Willcox, who often handles vocals, costumes and interpretive dance for each covered performance.

For instance, Fripp and Willcox donned festive dress for last week's cover of Sex Pistols' "Anarchy in the UK," while the guitarist tipped a top hat to Slash in using his goldtop Les Paul to cover Guns N' Roses' "Sweet Child O' Mine." Around Halloween, the two covered Black Sabbath's "Paranoid," with Fripp sporting serious face tats while Willcox dances inside a cell.

Of course, the pair's prog-minded viewership isn't left out in the cold. One video finds Willcox suggesting dance as a way to bring more women to King Crimson shows before busting a move to "Larks' Tongues In Aspic (Part 2)."

Another clip finds Fripp informing viewers that Willcox feels the main riff from 2000's "FraKctured" sounds like "a caffeinated mouse tap dancing," a character that she brings to life while the guitarist tears up his fret board.

Plenty more charm can be found in clips where a tutu'd Fripp moves gracefully across the lawn to music from Swan Lake, or where the two romp through the garden dressed in inflatable dinosaur costumes. Compared to other celeb video content from this year, it's refreshing to watch a couple not take themselves seriously in the slightest.

You can enter Fripp and Willcox's world of covers and costumes below. Coronavirus forced King Crimson to cancel a North American tour earlier this year, on which they would have celebrated 50 years of music-making.

Former King Crimson members Bill Rieflin and Gordon Haskell both passed away this year.
