Werner Herzog and British volcanologist Clive Oppenheimer are teaming up for a new documentary film titled Fireball, which will be about shooting stars, meteorites and deep impacts on Earth.

Earlier today, Apple TV+ announced its acquisition of the film, the latest in a growing list of collaboration between the two co-directors. Oppenheimer and Herzog had previously worked together on their 2007 film, Encounters at the End of the World, and again in 2016 for Into the Inferno.

The forthcoming doc will be produced by André Singer and Lucki Stipetić, as well as Herzog's own production company and Spring Films. Herzog is set to narrate.

According to IndieWire, the film will explore how fiery celestial bodies "have shaped human mythology and focused our attention on other realms and worlds" throughout history.

The film has yet to receive an official trailer or release date.
