The previously announced Twilight TV series has yet to be cast, but, lucky for the showrunners, spooky girl extraordinaire Jenna Ortega might have some free time on her hands after dropping out of Scream 7

Although it's been reported that she left the film due to Wednesday scheduling conflicts, if it were up to Catherine Hardwicke — director of the 2008 original Twilight film adaption — Ortega would be spending it in outer space alongside Jacob Elordi in the upcoming reboot of the vamp favourite.

Hardwicke discussed her desire to see vampire astronauts with Josh Horowitz on the Watchalong podcast. "How close do you stick to the original? How much do you change it? For me, it would be fun to do Twilight in outer space," she said of the upcoming series. "I would be happy, I'd be ecstatic to do that — something totally different."

She went on to agree with Horowitz that Elordi and Ortega would be the ideal Edward and Bella in the reboot.

"That would be perfect ... Jacob Elordi, I mean, he's amazing. He probably would be Edward today," she said. "I do think there's a lot of really cool young actors ... you just mentioned Jenna Ortega, she's amazing."

With Ortega due to star in Beetlejuice 2 and the second season of Wednesday next year, and Elordi, who just wrapped turns in Saltburn and Priscilla soon returning to work on Euphoria, their involvement in the Twilight show might be a pipe dream for Hardwicke and fans.
