Netflix's upcoming Addams Family reboot Wednesday — directed, of course, by Tim Burton — has finally gotten its first trailer ahead of its release on the streamer this fall.
Starring Jenna Ortega in the titular role, the trailer introduces Wednesday Addams as she's expelled from high school for sicking a shoal of piranhas on the school swim team, explaining that she "did the world a favour." The teen is then shipped off to private school, where the story begins.
An official synopsis reads:
The series is a sleuthing, supernaturally infused mystery charting Wednesday Addams' years as a student at Nevermore Academy, where she attempts to master her emerging psychic ability, thwart a monstrous killing spree that has terrorized the local town, and solve the murder mystery that embroiled her parents 25 years ago — all while navigating her new and very tangled relationships at Nevermore.
Ortega stars alongside Catherine Zeta-Jones, who will portray Morticia, Luis Guzmán as Gomez, and Isaac Ordonez as Pugsley, among others.
