The Witcher has finally found its Vesemir — and it's not Mark Hamill.

Today Netflix confirmed that Kim Bodina will be taking on the role of Vesemir, the mentor of Geralt of Rivia, in The Witcher Season 2. The news follows rumours that Hamill had been pegged to play the role — something that now will not be happening, for better or worse.

For the unfamiliar, Bodina is a Danish actor and perhaps best known for his recent work in Killing Eve, in which he played the role of Konstantin. Bodina also famously played the lead role in in Nicolas Winding Refn's beloved directorial debut Pusher, as well as starred in the Scandinavian police detective series The Bridge.

"A charming relic of the witcher Golden Age, Vesemir is the oldest and most experienced witcher in our series, as well as a father figure to Geralt," Netflix said in its announcement. "As one of the survivors of the Massacre at Kaer Morhen, a haunting slaughter that nearly exterminated the Witchers, he is fiercely protective of the remaining few, who he sees as an endangered community who can find glory on 'the Path' slaying monsters."

Witcher showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich added, "I am so thrilled to welcome Kim Bodnia to the cast of The Witcher. I have admired his unique talents in shows like Killing Eve and The Bridge, and cannot wait for him to bring strength, tenacity, and warmth to the character of Vesemir, who is such an integral part of our upcoming season."

Among the returning cast members from Season 1, the next instalment of The Witcher will see appearances from Hivju (who previously played Tormund Giantsbane on Game of Thrones) as Nivellen, Yasen Atour as Coen, Agnes Bjorn as Vereena, Paul Bullion as Lambert, Thue Ersted Rasmussen as Eskel, Aisha Fabienne Ross as Lydia and Mecia Simson as Francesca.

Season 2 will also feature the return of Henry Cavill as Geralt, alongside Anya Chalotra as Yennefer, Freya Allan as Ciri and Joey Batey as Jaskier the Bard, among others.

The Witcher Season 2 is set to hit Netflix sometime in 2021. Before that, though, we'll be getting an animated film called The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf.
