After its long-rumoured return, Disney+ has confirmed The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder has been green-lit for a revival on the platform.

What's more is that the series will see the return of a ton of original voice cast members including Kyla Pratt, Tommy Davidson, Paula Jai Parker, Jo Marie Payton, Karen Malina White, Soleil Moon Frye and Alisa Reyes. Plus, Cedric the Entertainer will be reprising his role as Uncle Bobby Proud.

The series is currently in production with showrunner Bruce W. Smith returning.

"In our minds, the show never really went away, as we still had tons of stories left to tell," Smith said in a joint statement with executive producer Ralph Farquhar. "It's the perfect time to bring back this show, and we can't wait to take fans, old and new alike, on this journey with us."

Senior vice-president of content at Disney+ Agnes Chu offered the following statement about the returning series:

The show's humour and relatable stories are as relevant with audiences today as ever. Our audiences have loved rediscovering their favourite episodes of The Proud Family, and we're excited Bruce, Ralph, Calvin [Brown] and the returning cast are creating new stories for their new home on Disney+.

Back in November, Payton, who voices Suga Mama, hinted that the show may be returning. Before that, Davidson, who plays Oscar Proud, teased the series's return in conversation with Where Is the Buzz.

Currently, all previous seasons of The Proud Family are streaming on Disney+. The original series premiered on Disney Channel 18 years ago.

So far, no release date has been set for the reboot.
