Veteran actor Lisa Banes has died following a deadly hit-and-run last week in New York. Banes — who notably starred in David Fincher's Gone Girl — died on Monday (June 14) due to her injuries. She was 65.
"We are heartsick of Lisa's tragic and senseless passing," a representative for Banes said. "She was a woman of great spirit, kindness and generosity and dedicated to her work, whether on stage or in front of a camera and even more so to her wife, family and friends... We were blessed to have had her in our lives."
Last week, Banes was taken to hospital after being struck by either a scooter or motorcycle while she was crossing the street outside the Lincoln Center in Manhattan. Following the accident. Banes' wife, Kathryn Kranhold, urged fans to pray for Banes and to contact the police if they had any information about the driver, who has yet to be found by police.
As a result of the accident, Banes suffered a traumatic brain injury and was unable to recover while in hospital.
In addition to Gone Girl, Banes also starred in Cocktail alongside Tom Cruise, as well as appeared in Freedom Writers and A Cure for Wellness.
She also had multiple TV roles, including on such shows as One Life to Live, China Beach, Royal Pains, Nashville, Six Feet Under NCIS and The King of Queens. One of Banes' most recent roles was for Seth MacFarlane's FOX sci-fi series The Orville.
On Broadway, Banes also was know for her roles in such productions as Present Laughter and High Society, among many other plays.

I am deeply saddened at the news of Lisa Banes' passing. We had the good fortune to work with her on The Orville this past year. Her stage presence, magnetism, skill and talent were matched only by her unwavering kindness and graciousness toward all of us. A tremendous loss…
