Angus Cloud — the American actor best known for playing Fezco in HBO's acclaimed television series Euphoria — has died. Cloud's family confirmed to multiple outlets that the actor passed away at his family's home in Oakland, CA, though a cause of death was not revealed. He was 25.
"It is with the heaviest heart that we had to say goodbye to an incredible human today," Cloud's family shared in a statement [via E! News]. "As an artist, a friend, a brother and a son, Angus was special to all of us in so many ways."
Cloud's loved ones shared that the actor had been mourning the recent death of his dad, sharing in their statement, "Last week, he buried his father and intensely struggled with this loss. The only comfort we have is knowing Angus is now reunited with his dad, who was his best friend. Angus was open about his battle with mental health and we hope that his passing can be a reminder to others that they are not alone and should not fight this on their own in silence."
"We hope the world remembers him for his humour, laughter and love for everyone. We ask for privacy at this time as we are still processing this devastating loss."
Born in Oakland in 1998, Cloud attended the city's Oakland School for the Arts alongside future Euphoria co-star Zendaya, telling WSJ Magazine in 2019, "We had some of the same friends I guess, but I didn't really know her."
Cloud built sets and worked with lighting and sound technology for the high school's theatre department, and his role as drug dealer Fezco "Fez" O'Neill in the Sam Levinson-created Euphoria was his first-ever acting gig. He revealed to WSJ Magazine that he auditioned for the role after being spotted by a casting agent while walking in Manhattan in summer 2018, recalling, "She asked me if I would be down to do an audition, but she didn't exactly say what it was for. I thought it was some type of scam."
Cloud's filmography also includes appearances in 2021's North Hollywood alongside Vince Vaughn and Miranda Cosgrove, and Ethan Berger's The Line, which premiered at the Tribeca Festival in June. Prior to his death, the actor was tied to a forthcoming monster film from Universal Pictures due in 2024, and the Oakland-set Freaky Tales from Captain Marvel directors Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck.
Cloud also directed and edited music videos for recording artist friends, sharing them via a personal YouTube channel. In 2019, he shared with WSJ Magazine that future screen dreams included voice acting for cartoons.
