The mayor of Flavortown, Guy Fieri, and his son, Hunter Fieri, are set to go head-to-head with reclusive actor Bill Murray and his son, Homer Murray, in a Tostitos-sponsored nacho bake-off this week.
The Food Network will host the livestream event on Facebook this Friday (May 15) at 5 p.m. ET in support of Fieri's charity, the Restaurant Employee Relief Fund, that helps send financial aid to displaced restaurant workers affected by the coronavirus pandemic.
"My entire career has been in the restaurant business," Fieri said in a statement. "From bussing tables to flambe captain to dishwasher to chef... I have done it all. I've also spent the better part of the last 15 years traveling this great country meeting other folks who've dedicated their lives to this business, and let me tell you something, they are the hardest working, most real deal workers you've ever met... the heartbeats of their communities.
He continued: "But they need our help and with the Restaurant Employee Relief Fund, we can serve up some support when these restaurant employees need it most... right now."
Last week, the duo teased their event during a nacho-focused appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. The Friday stream will be hosted by Carla Hall and judged by Shaquille O'Neal and Terry Crews.
Fieri has raised over $20 million through the relief fund so far. The charity has already delivered 40,000 grants of $500 to food industry workers in the States. In addition to soliciting donations for the cause, Fieri has also urged restaurant-goers to continue supporting their favourite spots through takeout and delivery services.
