Ben Affleck and Matt Damon Shared a Bank Account in High School

The then-underaged duo tried (and failed) to buy beer with the funds

It turns out Ben Affleck and Matt Damon are even closer than we thought.

It's a well-known tale that the best buds, who now co-own the production company Artists Equity, came up together in the suburbs of Boston and wrote their Oscar-winning movie Good Will Hunting while Damon was studying at Harvard. But now, in an episode of the Bill Simmons Podcast published Wednesday (March 22), the pair have revealed that they also shared a bank account while in high school.

Damon explained that the pair regulated their joint funds accordingly, telling Simmons that he and Affleck would use the money to attend auditions in New York, with some money set aside for the arcade or ill-fated attempts to buy beer.

Affleck added that the joint account had just as much to do with moral support as it did fiscal responsibility. "We were going to help each other and be there for each other," Affleck shared. "It was like, 'You're not going to be alone. I'm not going to be alone. Let's go out there and do this together.'"
