The once-beloved director has had his many sexual assault allegations dug up once more in Allen v. Farrow, a new documentary that has been airing weekly on HBO. Allen himself called the doc a "hatchet job," and for some reason, Baldwin really wants you to know that he agrees.
Alec has taken his rants to Instagram after deleting his Twitter last week (following backlash when he compared Gillian Anderson's American accent to the controversy that erupted when his wife Hilaria had been accused of faking a Spanish accent in the media).
The new 14-minute video sees Baldwin defend Allen, with whom he has worked in the past. It's not the first time he's defended Allen, and he says it's because Allen "has not been proven guilty of something."
Baldwin's defence extended to New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, who has been accused of inappropriate touching by four different women in the last week. "The Attorney General is going to investigate accusations against a Governor," Baldwin added. "Then, and only then, can we talk about people resigning."
Baldwin said, "The cancel culture thing has revved up during COVID. [People] have a lot of times on their hands. They want to get on their computer and they want to take on people like me and they want to say every horrible thing that you can possibly imagine about defending someone whose been accused of a crime.
"The COVID has exacerbated everything bad in our society. People are angry and bitter. They're pissed off.... If it was proven beyond a reasonable doubt that this person was guilty, I would certainly be open to changing my tune and even apologizing to victims. I'm all in favour of tough laws on people who sexual harass or abuse, but it has to be proven."
