Veteran Canadian actor Alan Thicke has passed away at the age of 69 after suffering a heart attack. A publicist for Thicke's son, singer Robin Thicke, confirmed the news.
Born in Kirkland Lake, ON, Alan Thicke was best known for his role as Dr. Jason Seaver in the sitcom Growing Pains.
In addition to that role, Thicke had also appeared in shows as diverse as Love Boat, How I Met Your Mother, Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job! and the CBC Douglas Coupland adaptation jPod, among many, many others.
Thicke was also a songwriter and had composed the jingles for theme songs for Diff'rent Strokes, The Facts of Life and Wheel of Fortune.
In 2013, Thicke was inducted into Canada's Walk of Fame.
