Jim Carrey has announced a book tour in support of his upcoming "semi-autobiographical novel," Memoirs and Misinformation.
The book was co-written by Carrey and Dana Vachon, and it tells the story of Jim Carrey the character — "an insanely successful and beloved movie star drowning in wealth and privilege — but he's also lonely. Maybe past his prime. Maybe even... getting fat?"
It deconstructs Carrey's public persona since he became famous, including his foray in more serious, Oscar-baiting, Charlie Kaufman-directed films.
The novel tells "a story about acting, Hollywood, agents, celebrity, privilege, friendship, romance, addiction to relevance, fear of personal erasure, our 'one big soul,' Canada, and a cataclysmic ending of the world — apocalypses within and without."
If it all sounds a bit meta and confusing, perhaps Carrey and Vachon will clear some questions up on their upcoming book tour.
It will begin in New York on May 5, eventually coming to Canada for a single stop in Vancouver on May 15. The tour will then come to a close in Los Angeles on May 21.
