Last month, BC indie rockers We Are the City announced ambitious plans to live stream the making of their latest LP. Well, the process is complete and the band are ready to share Above Club in its entirety — and Exclaim! has got your first listen.
Opening with a burst of eerie synth tones on "Take Your Picture with Me While You Still Can," the album navigates the listener through electro-infused pop-rock with cuts like "Heavy As a Brick" and "Keep on Dancing." It takes some twists with the oddball sounds and interesting rhythms on "Club Music" and the piano-driven-sway-turned-electronic-burble of "Cheque Room" before wrapping up with the triumphant synth-pop gem "Kiss Me, Honey."
Above Club is out on November 13 via Boompa in Canada, and Tooth & Nail in the U.S. Give it an early listen right now in the player at the bottom of the page.
