If you pick up a copy of the latest issue of Exclaim!, you'll discover that Franz Ferdinand's Alex Kapranos is a big fan of Chappell Roan. So much so, in fact, that the band have paid homage to 2024's breakout star with a cover of "Good Luck, Babe!"
The band shared their take on one of the best songs of the year at a Sofa Session for BBC Radio 2. "It's just an amazing song by an incredible artist," Kapranos told Jo Whiley. "It's funny, you get some artists that have a moment, often it's kind of divisive. Some people absolutely love them and some people hate them. But I've not come across anybody I know, none of my friends, nobody I know, who doesn't like this artist. They're just so good. This song's incredible so we're going to play it."
Franz are no stranger to covering pop songs, so this rendition comes as no surprise. Over the years, they've covered Gwen Stefani's absolute banger "What You Waiting For?" "Call Me" by Blondie and Britney Spears's "Womanizer" — all of which went platinum in my high school bedroom.
A full video of the cover hasn't made its way online yet, but BBC Radio 2 shared a clip of the chorus to their Instagram Reels. Watch it below.
