Vetus Obscurum

Blood Revelations

BY Keith CarmanPublished Jan 4, 2010

Initially formed in 1995, yet put on the back burner as members formed then-new outfit Krohm two years later, black metal trio Vetus Obscurum have been revived as of late. Apparently it's in order to get some of those non-Krohm riffs into circulation. What does that entail? Cryptic black metal, basically. While Blood Revelations is interesting for its cacophonous delivery, chaotic atmosphere and adherence to traditional Norwegian styles, circa the early '90s, because it adheres so religiously to convention it lacks originality or many points of interest. In other words, while it does rock, it's also kind of stock. This is purely for those wanting a new blast of old school, as opposed to something that contributes to the overall state of the genre.
