Vancouver's In Medias Res Sign to File Under: Music for Latest LP

BY Alex HudsonPublished Jun 23, 2011

In recent years, Vancouver label File Under: Music has amassed an impressive catalogue, including albums by Dan Mangan, Kathryn Calder, Graham Wright and Blackie and the Rodeo Kings. Now, the record company has announced its latest signing: In Medias Res.

The Vancouver indie rock quartet formed in the late '90s and have since released two LPs. Their latest full-length, It Was Warm and Sunny When We First Set Out, was self-released digitally in early 2011.

This album was produced by Jonathan Anderson (Aidan Knight, Stabilo) and the celebrated studio team of John Collins and Dave Carswell (Tegan and Sara, the New Pornographers). A press release contains descriptions like "unholy squall," "rousing anthem" and "sweetly melodic," when discussing the album.

It Was Warm and Sunny When We First Set Out will receive a hard-copy release through File Under: Music/Outside on July 12. See the tracklist below, and keep scrolling down to check out the band's smattering of upcoming shows. At the bottom of the page is a video for the track "Fight Song."
