Edmonton's Up + Downtown Music Festival is excited to announce its limited-capacity return for 2021 with Purple City — a one-day festival taking place at Hawrelak Park's Heritage Amphitheatre on August 7.

The entirely Edmontonian lineup consists of Calvin Love, Cayley Thomas, Wares, Aladean Kheroufi, ☽Ag47, Mustafa Rafiq, Karimah and Billie Zizi.

While Up + Downtown is known for hosting a Thanksgiving weekend festival across the city's downtown core venues, this summer's Purple City will be one-of-a-kind event. Painting the town purple comes in the name of celebrating the talent and resilience of Edmonton's diverse local music scene.

The pandemic's toll on the performing arts sector has been massive, but many artists have striven relentlessly to share music in innovative ways throughout — like Zizi's participation in Curbside Concerts. This summer, Purple City will shine the light at the end of the tunnel.

Purple City will also highlight the arts and sustainable fashion community with space for local vendors and a vintage market curated by Lawless Vintage.
