Tortoise Stream 'The Catastrophist,' Extend World Tour

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Jan 15, 2016

With just one week to go before Tortoise issue their new The Catastrophist LP, the Windy City post-rock experimentalists have revealed another big batch of concert dates to support the forthcoming collection, which they are also now streaming online in full.

Late last year, Tortoise unveiled a tour schedule that would bring them through parts of Europe and North America between January and March. This includes stops at Toronto's Lee's Palace on March 12 and at Montreal's Fairmount venue the following night.

Now, a press release confirms that the tour continues in April, with the quintet bouncing back and forth between continents into the middle of the summer. For Canadian fans, this includes a stop at Vancouver's Imperial on April 28.

You'll find the newly updated schedule, which now reveals that Tortoise drummer John McEntire's Sea and Cake bandmate Sam Prekop will be opening several dates, down below.

As previously reported, The Catastrophist is Tortoise's first album release in seven years. It features a number of instrumental cuts, but also features vocal performances from Yo La Tengo's Georgia Hubley and U.S. Maple member Todd Rittman.

The album officially hits retailers next Friday (January 22) through Thrill Jockey, but it's streaming in full now via The Guardian. You can give it a spin beneath the concert info.
