Embracing a hybrid model, Venus Fest is back for 2021 with its fifth edition. The festival's video installation features collaborations between artists and musicians — including Haviah Mighty, Charlotte Cornfield, Eve Parker Finley, SPELLLING, Ah-Mer-Ah-Su, Nimkish, Secondsight and Kyla Charter.
Venus Fest Five is scheduled to take place from October 16 to 30 at Toronto gallery the plumb — a new collective space dedicated to representation in visual art. The videos will premiere online via the Happin platform on October 22 and 23, where virtual attendees can engage in a live chat and purchase merch directly from the artists.
In-person viewing of the videos — played on a loop alongside an immersive full-gallery installation by Emily Pelstring — will be available within capacity limits at the plumb on weekends between 2 and 6 p.m. ET, or by appointment during the week.
Tickets for both virtual and in-person access to the exhibition will be available with tiered pricing to promote accessibility during this challenging time. Venus Fest seeks to inspire creative ways of experiencing art and togetherness, moving towards a new paradigm of artistic celebration.
