Exclaim! Class Of and New Faves alum Castle Frank — the indie pop project of Toronto singer-songwriter Max Bergé — has announced his debut album, previewed by new single "Half Awake."
Produced by Nixon Boyd (Dizzy, Hollerado) and Max Lederman (!!!, the Rural Alberta Advantage), In Your Blood is due June 23. It includes previous singles "Shallows," "Just Kids" and "Resolutions."
"Sometimes places, people or experiences can leave a mark that you carry until it becomes a part of you," the artist, who moved to Ontario's capital from a small West Coast suburb at age 19 with nothing but a duffel bag, shared in a statement. "Even if you'd prefer to forget, you learn to accept it as everything you've been through has made you who you are."
Bergé added that the tender new single is about "being aware of the flaws in your character, seeing your bad habits and the harm that they cause yourself and others." He explained, "Using any escape necessary to get into a numbed out blissful state where you avoid your problems but realizing in the end you can't keep living like this and you have to better yourself in order to find peace."
