For rizzle

Remember being a kid and thinking the future would entail teleportation, flying cars and cool shit like that? Instead, we got new Nazis, charcoal in way too many places it's not supposed to be and now, a Snoop Dogg AI chatbot.

Artificial intelligence — both its rewards and threats to humanity — has been at the centre of public discourse all year, with musicians railing against it or embracing its art-generating potential to varying results. Although Grimes once deemed him "under-qualified" to oversee the Metaverse, Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg has since renamed his tech company Meta after acquiring Instagram (and WhatsApp, Threads, etc.) and is eager to invest in bringing the latest trend to the public via social media.

Yesterday (September 27), Flat Stanley incarnate revealed a batch of AI-powered products — including chatbots designed to emulate figures like Tom Brady, Jane Austen and Charli D'Amelio — at a launch event, The New York Times reports. He even gave attendees a little demo of the Snoop bot while wearing that omnipresent navy crewneck T-shirt.

Zuckerberg employed the not-for-rizzle reincarnation of the rapper as Dungeon Master for an online round of Dungeons & Dragons. The bot announced, "Let's get medieval, player," although the CEO claimed that audio would not become a standard feature until next year.

We have so many questions. Firstly, why? Second, can AI Snoop Dogg smoke weed with you? Thirdly, and it really does bear repeating, why?

Coronation Street superfan Snoop is known for many things, business plans — mostly related to Jack White-confounding consumable products — among them, so it's not exactly surprising that he'd be willing to join forces with a giant corporation like Meta to rake in some dolla dolla bills with his likeness.

However, the rapper was also a vocal supporter of the writers' strike, where one of the key threats to WGA union members' jobs was the increasing prevalence of AI text generators like ChatGPT.
