Vancouver pop-rockers the Zolas have launched a new monthly singles series that they're dubbing "Z Days." This run of singles is now underway with the new track "Energy Czar," and this will lead up to the announcement of a new album in the fall.
An announcement says that "Z Days" will consist of a new single on the "Znd of the month" between now and the end of the summer. The first four months (June, July, August and September) will be standalone singles; for October, the Zolas will release the first single from a new album for Light Organ Records.
In a statement, frontman Zach Gray said, "We were meant to release the first single from our new album as we speak but our mutual friend the virus pushed things back till the fall. There's this separate little batch of apocalyptic songs, though, that feel perfect for the moment."
The songs all will come accompanied by lyric videos inspired by filmmaker Wong Kar-Wai. Check out the video for "Energy Czar" below. The song was recorded at 604 Records' in-house studio in Vancouver and produced by the band alongside James Younger (of Yukon Blonde).
The Zolas' new album will be the follow-up to 2017's Swooner.
