Just days ahead of the premiere of his Dawn FM immersive TV special, the Weeknd was gearing up to reveal yet another trick up his sleeve — but then he got word of the Ukraine conflict.

Last night (February 23), the artist born Abel Tesfaye continued teasing today's anticipated announcement on Twitter.

"LET'S GOOOOOOOO," he tweeted — within minutes of Russian President Vladimir Putin's televised speech declaring his decision "to launch a special military operation" in eastern Ukraine as a response to Ukrainian threats and rising tension between the two nations [via Global News].

Perhaps the tweets were pre-scheduled; perhaps a social media manager is getting fired as we speak, but as the old adage goes: timing is everything.

As are screenshots that capture said timing — check out some of Twitter's replies to the Weeknd's unfortunate tweet mishap below.

While what the Weeknd had planned to announce today will decidedly remain shrouded in mystery for a bit longer, he did recently reveal that his latest album is part of a new trilogy.
