Just days ahead of the premiere of his Dawn FM immersive TV special, the Weeknd was gearing up to reveal yet another trick up his sleeve — but then he got word of the Ukraine conflict.

"LET'S GOOOOOOOO," he tweeted — within minutes of Russian President Vladimir Putin's televised speech declaring his decision "to launch a special military operation" in eastern Ukraine as a response to Ukrainian threats and rising tension between the two nations [via Global News].

While what the Weeknd had planned to announce today will decidedly remain shrouded in mystery for a bit longer, he did recently reveal that his latest album is part of a new trilogy.
