William and Jim Reid of the Jesus and Mary Chain have detailed a new memoir.
The brothers will share Never Understood: The Story of the Jesus and Mary Chain in the UK on August 15 via White Rabbit Books, ahead of a North American release on September 3 via Hachette Book Group.
Never Understood will see the Reids chart their group's history over four decades; from their Scottish origins, to the critical success of 1985 debut Psychocandy, to their 1998 breakup and subsequent reunion in 2007.
The tome, also said to be "a love letter to the Scottish working-class family," will indeed explore the brothers' struggles with addiction, fame and one another. "It's got plenty of warts, we can assure you of that," Jim Reid said of the memoir in a statement. "In fact, it might be all warts."
Never Understood is now available for pre-order in a variety of editions. The book's title references both the Jesus and Mary Chain’s Psychocandy single "Never Understand," in addition to 1998's “Never Understood."
Next week, the Jesus and Mary Chain will share Glasgow Eyes, their first album in seven years.
