Late Swedish EDM producer Avicii has already been honoured with plans for a new museum, and now he's had an arena named in his honour.

Stockholm's 15,000-person capacity Ericsson Globe Arena has now been renamed the Avicii Arena. The change takes effect as of today.

Born Tim Bergling, the artist best known as Avicii passed away in 2018 from self-inflicted wounds. He was 28 years old.

"It was a significant milestone in Tim's career when he played here 9 years ago, and he would be extremely proud that this iconic building from today will bear his name," Avicii's father Klas Bergling said of the arena rename.
