Adieu

Nothing becomes history until it is immortalized in a sculptural depiction. Legends are made, and then they are carved. But not every effigy is set in stone (or bronze or whatever): Rammstein bandleader Till Lindemann was recently honoured with a statue, which proceeded to be stolen away almost immediately.

Artist Roxxy Roxx erected — the term I suspect its dildo-slinging muse would want me to use — the statue in front of the vocalist's childhood home in the Evershagen district of Rostock, Germany. The art piece was presented in honour of Lindemann's 60th birthday yesterday (January 4), then promptly went missing without so much as an "Adieu."

As reported by German news outlet NDR, the case of the stolen statue is currently under investigation by Rostock police. Its absence was reported around 10 a.m. yesterday, and any potential witnesses with information on the theft are urged to come forward.

After having reportedly been delayed by a paper shortage, Rammstein released their most recent album Zeit last year. The record's namesake simply translates to "time" — and perhaps, much like the practice of erecting statues of influential people, Lindemann's sculpture being stolen was only a matter of it.

The grass is always greener when it's beneath a very metal lawn ornament, or however that old adage goes.

You can check out the now-missing statue below via the artist's Instagram.
