Statues honouring fictional meth dealers? Sure, why not! Albuquerque, NM, will soon be unveiling statues of Breaking Bad characters Walter White and Jesse Pinkman.

The statues by sculptor Trevor Grove were commissioned and donated by Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan. They come with the approval of the city, and will be erected at the Albuquerque Convention Center.

"Over the course of 15 years, two TV shows and one movie, Albuquerque has been wonderful to us," Gilligan said in a statement. "I wanted to return the favour and give something back."

The statues will be unveiled on July 29. Actors Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul, who respectively portray White and Pinkman, will be on hand, along with Gilligan, executive producer Peter Gould and Mayor Tim Keller.

Breaking Bad doesn't exactly portray Albuquerque in a positive light, given that it concerns drugs and gangs, but the show has become a tourist attraction for the city. There are various "Breaking Bad Tours," including one listed on Wikitravel with 26 stops in and around the city. The real-life owners of Walter White's house have even had to deal with fans throwing pizza on their roof.
