Having cornered the market on both savoury (cannabis-infused) and sweet (Jack White-confounding) snacks, Snoop Dogg's life is already like a movie.
Now, the entrepreneur and hip-hopper's unique blend of rhythm and gangsta will be brought to the screen in a new movie from Universal Pictures, which previously illustrated N.W.A.'s story in Straight Outta Compton (Dogg was portrayed by Lakeith Stanfield) and Eminem's in 8 Mile.
The official Snoop Dogg biopic will be helmed by director Allen Hughes (Menace II Society) and screenwriter Joe Robert Cole (Black Panther). It's also set to feature the MC's expansive music catalogue, marking the first production from his content label Death Row Pictures.
"I waited a long time to put this project together because I wanted to choose the right director, the perfect writer and the greatest movie company I could partner with that could understand the legacy that I'm trying to portray on screen, and the memory I'm trying to leave behind," the rapper said in a statement. "It was the perfect marriage. It was holy matrimony, not holy macaroni."
Dogg got suited up in some chaps earlier this year for Netflix's Day Shift and helped the Fleetwood Mac "Dreams" meme guy make his rap debut. His sexual assault lawsuit over an incident that allegedly took place in 2013 was also refiled.
