Chicago's Slow Pulp have detailed their sophomore record. Yard will arrive September 29 on ANTI-, and today the four-piece tease the album with its lead single, "Slugs."
Yard is said to follow in the footsteps of the indie rockers' 2020 debut Moveys, while experimenting with bigger sounds. Like its predecessor, its vocals were recorded in bandleader Emily Massey's dad's home studio.
"Working together, we can be very honest with each other in a way that I wouldn't be able to do with a stranger or a producer that's not my family," Massey said of working with her dad, Michael. "He already has so much context for what the songs are about, knowing my life so intimately. He is able to be very direct, saying things I often don't want to hear but need to hear. I think it often leads to getting the best takes out of me."
In support of Yard, Slow Pulp will embark on an extensive tour of North America and Europe this fall — hitting Vancouver, Toronto and Montreal along the way. The dates follow their opening slots on Alvvays' tour last year.
