It was a strange sight for Sloan not to talk even once during their set at the Paragon, but as they moved quickly through the tracklisting of their 1994 album Twice Removed, it was clear the crowd was enthusiastically rolling right along with them. The more challenging tracks from the album were easy to digest in a hastened live form, and as they came out for an encore of Smeared songs, Sloan were their old talkative selves, guitarist Patrick Pentland joking that the mask was now off. Though a Sloan set is always full of classic favourites, "500 Up" has really survived the test of time, not unlike the band themselves.
