Calgary's Sled Island has announced genre-defying indie force Bartees Strange as guest curator for the festival's 2023 edition.

Running from June 21 to 25, the Washington, D.C.-based singer-songwriter's curatorial selections will join over 200 additional musical acts — in addition to offerings in comedy and film, as well as visual art installations — across multiple venues. Bartees Strange will also take the stage himself at the #1 Royal Canadian Legion on June 21.

This won't be the 4AD-signed artist's first Canadian connection, either; he namedrops Toronto on his Farm to Table single "Heavy Heart."

Early bird Sled Island passes go on sale at a special 20 percent off rate this Friday (December 9) at 12 p.m. MT via the fest's website or in-store at Lukes Drug Mart locations.
