Japanese indie-pop hero Shugo Tokumaru last left us way back in 2012 with In Focus? Luckily, he's now returning with a new album called Toss, which he's now showing off via an animated clip for the new song "Lift."
Down below, you can watch the charming, manga-styled new clip, which comes at the hands of visual collaborators Kazuo Umezz and Mirai Mizue. As for the song itself, "Lift" once again finds Tokumaru blending more traditional indie-rock sensibilities with grand orchestral gestures, including even some very bluegrass fiddle at one point. There's also some pitch-shifted vocal effects weaved in near the end sounding very much like those Shintaro Sakamoto has been using on his most recent albums.
Check it all out for yourself below.
Toss is due out in Japan on October 19. So far it's without a North American due date, but his previous albums have arrived here via Polyvinyl.
