Red Hot Chili Peppers Share Clip of John Frusciante Shredding a Guitar Solo

He's back in rock hero mode

It's an eventful time to be a Red Hot Chili Peppers fan. The band shared a clip of new music last week, and now they've revealed another snippet — this time of an in-studio rehearsal.

In the clip, Flea holds down a bassline while returning guitarist John Frusciante shreds a guitar solo on his Fender Stratocaster. Frusciante spent most of his decade away from the band making electronic music, but this clip shows him fully back in rock hero mode with two Marshall stacks.

To complement the vintage rock vibe, the clip is shot with a wobbly, psychedelic blue filter.

It's not totally clear if this is a proper song or just a jam, since it's fairly structureless — but it sounds like classic RHCP and is sure to stoke anticipation for their upcoming new album, which is expected out this spring.

Watch the jam below. Check out the band's tour schedule here.
