Earlier this month, we introduced Coastal Frequencies, the new Vancouver-based web series, co-presented with Exclaim!, by filmmakers Justin Ludwig and Sean Patrick Shaul that blends high-quality concert footage with interviews. The initial instalment brought us a video of Prairie rock outfit Rah Rah and their recent show at Vancouver's Biltmore Cabaret. Now, for the series' second offering, the documentarians are turning their lenses towards long-running political punk outfit the Rebel Spell, who were recorded on April 11 at Vancouver's favourite rock'n'roll eatery, LanaLou's.
In this 10-minute clip, watch as the adopted hometown heroes spit tracks like "Is It Enough," "I Am a Rifle" and "Can't Fool Me," and talk about their formation in 2002, playing across the country and the Canadian underground punk revival.
Watch the video below, and keep coming back to Exclaim.ca for more instalments from the series. You can also contribute to a newly launched Indiegogo campaign over here.
Coastal Frequencies is also presented with Become the Media and Prairie Coast Films.
