Rapp was previously labelled too "overweight" to play the character

Reneé Rapp has been pretty vocal this year about her experience being body-shamed by staffers on the set of Broadway's Mean Girls musical and, ever since the trailer for the upcoming big screen adaptation arrived, internet trolls have claimed she's too "overweight" to play the iconic Regina George.

However, Ontario-born actress Rachel McAdams — whose opinion holds far more weight than anyone else's as the original actor behind Regina George — thinks Rapp is perfect for the role.

"I don't think she can do any wrong. She is amazing," McAdams told Entertainment Tonight. "She's already got me beat with that voice, so I'm just excited to see her incarnation ... It's such a great character; it's so much fun to play, so I hope she has a great time with it, and I can't wait to see it."

Rapp, who leads a cast including Jon Hamm, Busy Philipps, Angourie Rice (Mare of Easttown) and Christopher Briney (The Summer I Turned Pretty), is fresh on the heels of stops in Vancouver, Toronto and Montreal behind her album Snow Angel, which was treated to a deluxe edition last month.

Watch her wholesome reaction to McAdams's endorsement of her turn in the Mean Girls movie musical below.
