Having already performed all across Canada this year, Queens of the Stone Age have been forced to cancel a portion of their ongoing tour plans as frontman Josh Homme has returned to the US from Europe for emergency surgery.
Few other details about the singer's condition have been made available, and so far, the band are due to return to the road in August for a handful of European dates before heading back to the States for a short run through October.
UPDATE (7/26, 9:40 a.m. ET): QOTSA have now cancelled all of their European festival dates per Homme's doctor's instructions. They're now due to return to the road in the US at the end of September.
"QOTSA regret to announce that Josh Homme must return to the United States immediately for emergency surgery," the band wrote in a statement. "Every effort was made to push through and play for you, but it is no longer an option to continue."
They conclude by announcing that ticketholders for headline shows "will be contacted directly from the point of purchase with further information." Meanwhile, fans attending festival shows should keep their eyes on festival websites/channels for more information.
