It's been a couple of years since Poliça released an album, but now the Gayngs spinoff (and Bon Iver buddies) have unveiled their latest effort. The record is called United Crushers, and it will be out on March 4 on Mom + Pop/Memphis Industries.
This is the band's third LP. They wrote it in Minneapolis in the winter of 2015, with recording taking place at El Paso, TX's Sonic Ranch Studios. The band apparently stuck to their usual synth-heavy palette while upping the production quality. A press release says this about the album:
The themes found and explored on United Crushers are heavily political and deeply personal with thick references to social injustice, self-doubt and isolation, the rapidly increasing urban decline in gentrification, overcoming music industry machinations, and finding true and honest love in the wake of it all. Even at its darkest, the record is musically the band's most upbeat and celebratory. It is a weapon meant to empower the weak, the forgotten, and the disenfranchised.
For a taste of United Crushers, scroll past the tracklist to watch the extremely colourful video for the dreamily percussive, soulful synth-pop tune "Lime Habit." The clip was directed by the Sunset People.
