Phil Anselmo Reveals New Scour Project with Members of Cattle Decapitation, Pig Destroyer

Metal vocalist Phil Anselmo has had a rich career full of varied team-ups, including Pantera, Down, Superjoint Ritual and his backup band the Illegals. The genre icon has now announced he's got yet another dynamic outfit in the works. Featuring members of Cattle Decapitation, Pig Destroyer and more, Anselmo's latest band is called Scour.

This week a Facebook page was launched by the project, confirming their all-star lineup. Anselmo, as you might imagine, is handling vocals. Cattle Decapitation bassist Derek Engemann has taken on six-string duties in Scour, as has former Animosity member Chase Fraser. Pig Destroyer's John Jarvis plays bass, while drummer Jesse Schobel (Strong Intention) fills out the rhythm section.

Not much has been revealed on the social media site just yet, but a recent interview with Anselmo had him noting that the band have already prepped an EP full of "short songs." He also described Scour's sound as "modern-ish black metal-sounding, thrashy black metal type stuff."

"I'm going to put my own spin on it," he told Hellbound [via Metal Sucks] "I don't have to sound like your boy from Gorgoroth to get the point across, man. There's other ways of singing over that style of music, and I shall employ many styles."
