Osheaga has announced that it will be throwing a 2021 festival after all. This morning organizers revealed they will host a mini festival of sorts called the Osheaga Get Together.
The Montreal event will run from October 1 to 3, and it will focus on local and Canadian talent. Headliners will include Charlotte Cardin, Jessie Reyez and Half Moon Run.
Unlike enormous past editions of Osheaga proper, the 2021 Get Together will be pared down. There will be two stages and "limited capacity." As usual, it will take place at Montreal's Parc Jean-Drapeau.
"We are keenly aware of how important live music is to our fans and our city, and how much everyone misses it," said Osheaga founder Nick Farkas in a statement. "We are thrilled about this announcement, because we promised fans that we would do everything in our power to get them to Parc Jean-Drapeau to be united by live music again as soon as possible, and we are going to make that happen!"
A press release adds: "The Osheaga Get Together will follow all government recommendations and all on-site COVID-19 health and safety measures, which will be communicated at a date closer to the event."
Other than the headliners, the lineup has not yet been announced. Tickets go on sale tomorrow (June 23) at 12 p.m. local time.
Osheaga previously announced that its 2021 edition would be cancelled due to the pandemic. Prior to that, the festival's original 2021 plan was to run from July 30 to August 1 with headliners Foo Fighters, Cardi B and Post Malone. The 2020 edition was also cancelled.
