Nirvana

Nevermind

BY Cam LindsayPublished May 1, 2005

Analysing Kurt Cobain and Nirvana's music has been done to death in the 11 years since his "suicide," yet this latest DVD in the Classic Albums series goes beyond exploring his cries for help. Concentrating on the actual recording of the music, this disc follows Butch Vig into the studio where he deconstructs the album song by song, filling you in on how exactly Nevermind was born. With some history thrown in via interviews with Dave Grohl, Krist Novoselic and everyone involved in the band's success, it's not just Vig isolating Kurt's Lennon-esque double vocals or Grohl's hi-hat. If you didn't know about the squeeze toy used in "Drain You," what are you waiting for? (Eagle Vision)
