Neil Young is stepping up his anti-Trump game, moving from threats of lawsuits to full-on diss tracks. Yes, the beloved Canadian songwriter is putting the U.S. president in his crosshairs via a newly updated version of his song "Lookin' for a Leader."
The song originally appeared on Young's 2006 effort Living with War, and at the time, it was about George W. Bush and his shitshow of an administration. Now, though, it's been giving a modern update, shining a light on an even bigger shitshow of an administration and urging Americans to call for change.
The 2020 version of "Lookin' for a Leader" arrives via a video done by Young's wife Daryl Hannah, and he starts the clip out by saying "The sun is going down on us baby" — a line that sets a very ominous tone.
You can watch the "Lookin' for a Leader" video here on his Neil Young Archives site, while the updated lyrics are here. You can also check out the audio-only version below.
