NEeMA

'Leave the Light On' (album stream)

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Apr 1, 2014

While Montreal's NEeMA isn't quite ready to release an apparently forthcoming follow-up to 2010's Watching You Think, she's at least giving us a glimpse at what she's been up to the last few years with a new live set titled Leave the Light On. The concert album doesn't make its official debut until April 8, but you can hear the whole of the LP a little early, courtesy of Exclaim.ca.

The 12 songs presented on Leave the Light On were recorded at various venues, from hometown performances in Montreal to cuts captured in Paris, London, Oslo and more during a 2011 tour of Europe. Throughout the set, the artist delivers intimate, folksy covers of tracks by the likes of Bruce Springsteen ("The Ghost of Tom Joad") and Felix LeClerc ("Le Petit Bonheur"). NEeMA also unravels intimate originals like love song "Unspoken" and her soul-stirring track for the saviours and sinners "Masi," while sharing a story or two along the way.

You can hear it all down below and pre-order the album here.

While few details have been shed, NEeMA's next album is expected to arrive later this year.
