Brooklyn-based trio Nation of Language are back with tour plans and a brand new single. Their time on the road will see them come through Canada for performances in Vancouver, Montreal and Toronto later this year.
The dates kick off in Baltimore next month, with the band bringing their shimmering synthpop grooves to Vancouver's Rickshaw Theatre on August 14. They'll close out the year with another couple of Canadian shows at Montreal's Studio TD on December 1 and Toronto's the Phoenix on December 2.
Today, they've also given us a taste of their third album Strange Disciple with new wave-y single "Sole Obsession." Nation of Language said of the track in a statement:
In simplest terms, "Sole Obsession" is one about knowing when, or if, to give in or give up. Particularly, when to untie the knots we tie ourselves into when an infatuation sets in. So many of us have experienced an addictive feeling that constricts us further and further until, hopefully, there's a moment of clarity that allows one to free themself from that particular compulsion. The title of our next album, Strange Disciple, is a lyric from "Sole Obsession," which references a character of such a nature; one who finds themself an adherent to a subject that is probably not worth the devotion.
Tickets for the tour — which will see the trio joined on select dates by Gustaf, Reggie Watts and Miss Grit — go on sale to the general public this Friday (March 10) at 10 a.m. local time via Ticketmaster.
