New York no wavers Gustaf have announced their sophomore album, led by new single "Starting and Staring," as well as a run of North American tour dates for this spring.
Package Pt. 2 arrives on April 5 via Royal Mountain Records, following the band's 2021 debut, Drag for Ego Slobs. The new record was produced by Erin Tonkon, who worked on David Bowie's Blackstar.
While their debut saw Gustaf struggle with alienating others through their adaptive mechanisms, Package Pt. 2 brings a newfound self-awareness, as per press notes, to the band's approach to life and relationships.
The hard-won confidence is palpable on the frenetic, 100-metre dash that is "Starting and Staring," which is fittingly accompanied by an Alex Ross Perry-directed video of the band performing at an intimate house party, with frontperson Lydia Gammil's intensity in full-force as she commands the camera to maintain eye contact.
Kicking off on April 21 in Cambridge, MA, Gustaf's tour will bring them to Canada for a trio of shows in Montreal (April 23), Toronto (April 24) and Vancouver (May 2). See the full itinerary, the "Starting and Staring" video and album tracklist below.
