Metallica's James Hetfield has had a truly bizarre film career. In addition to the must-see rock doc Some Kind of Monster, Hetfield recently lent his voice to an anti-porn documentary. Up next, he'll take on a role in Joe Berlinger's long-awaited Ted Bundy biopic.
The film is called Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile and, as previously reported, stars Zac Efron as Bundy. Lily Collins will co-star as Bundy's girlfriend Elizabeth Kloepfer.
As for Hetfield, he's set to play a Utah highway patrol veteran named Bob Hayward. Hayward was the first person to arrest Bundy in 1975.
Berlinger, who co-directed Some Kind of Monster, said, "Having spent hundreds of hours behind the scenes with James and the rest of Metallica, I have experienced his charisma and powerful presence close up. It seemed only natural that he would bring that same power and magnetism to a dramatic role, so when he agreed to my pitch that he be in the movie, I was thrilled."
Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile is currently in the midst of production.
